Originally designed as a monitor for a top recording studio, the Legacy Studio HD offers unmatched clarity and dynamics in a compact enclosure. Don't let its size fool you. The Studio HD is a butt kickin' compact monitor featuring an 8" Silver/Graphite bass/midrange driver and 1" dual pole AMT folded ribbon. The sound is open and airy, yet a kick drum "feels" like a kick drum. Vocals are robust and effortless. You can hear lungs fill with air before the first note is sung.
The rear terminal plate features removable copper jumpers to facilitate bi-amping if desired. Independent high and low frequency contour switches allow you to adjust the speaker to your room. Small speakers often come with trade-offs. Not the case with the Studio HD's. Thanks to extra deep tuning of the ultra efficient midrange/bass driver, they keep perfect rhythm down to the lowest note on the bass guitar - E 41Hz.
The Studio HD's can serve as front mains or as side or rear channels with ease. Coupled with the Metro subwoofer, Studio HD offers a building block approach to true high-end audio.
The editor of Pro Audio Review wrote:
"An excellent imaging speaker system, the Studio HDs are impressive in the amount of information they convey. On 24 bit/96kHz recordings, the Studio HDs sound very natural with accurate presence and imaging deep and wide. The bass also appeared more accurate than my original Studios. The transient response is quite good; cymbals reflect the speed and air of a well recorded setup, without a hint of harshness… just like it sounds in the session.
My listening notes contained the word “accurate” over and over. As for negatives with the Studio HDs, I simply found none. They sound great, look good, and are easy to place." - John Gatski, PAR
Recommended Cables: The Morrow Audio SP4 or higher speaker cables are excellent for the Studio HD speakers
Our Buyers Guide can also help you choose the perfect cables for your system.
- The binding post accepts our Standard Spade, Banana and bare wire (nude) cable terminations.
- Speakers require a break in period. Just like a new pair of shoes, the speaker spider and surround needs to loosen up from their like new stiffness. Bass will deepen, midrange and highs will smooth out. You can expect around 150 hours for complete break-in.
The easiest way to break your speakers in is to simply play music with a wide dynamic range. Turn the speakers up a little louder than you normally would will help loosen up the material.
