MAP1 & MAP2 Kit Instructions:

Thank you for your purchase of a MAP power cable kit. Please print out this page for easy access as you assemble your kit. Mark a check in the convenient area by each number to keep track of your progress as you assemble the kit.

If you have received this in print form, a full color version is available on the website. Go to the cable kit you purchased and click on the link that says "VIEW OUR ONLINE INSTRUCTIONS HERE"

NOTE: The color of wires might be different in your kit according to the stock we have on hand. Regardless, follow the below instructions keeping this in mind. Decide on how you will substitute the below colors with the colors found in your kit.

___ Step 1:
Make sure that your kit contains the following:

  • 1 IEC plug
  • 1 AC plug
  • Silver solder
  • 2 black heat shrink pieces
  • MAP1: 2 lengths of cable
  • MAP2: 3 lengths of cable

___ Step 2:
You will find in your kit runs of wire. The number of runs depends on the model you purchased. There will be 2 runs for the MAP1 cable and 3 runs for the MAP2 cable. Gather the runs together and twist these together. I find it best to let them hang down while holding one end up high. I then twist each one around the other, each in turn until all are twisted down the full length of the cable. Leave a little on each end un-twisted as shown below.

Twist the cables together down the full length of the cable

___ Step 3:
On each run of wire, there is a twisted set of three. Separate all these wires down about 3 inches.

Strip the insulation off the wires you have separated. We want to strip about a 1 inch off all the wires. You can use a box knife, hobby knife, wire stripper or even your soldering iron to melt the insulation and then pull it off.

When using a knife, score around the wire and then pull off the insulation. It might take you a few tries. Don't fret if you break the wire, loosing an inch or so off your cable. Simply try again till you are able to do it correctly. Make sure the ends are the same length once completed.

___ Step 4:
There are three different colors of wire in your cables. They are...

___ Step 6:
You will notice on the AC plug that there are three holes. You will also notice that each one has a set screw and that they are different colors...black, green and silver. Insert the wires into the holes as follows:

Hole with the green set screw receives the White/Yellow/Green wires.

Hole with the silver set screw receives the White/Yellow wires.

Tighten down the set screws to hold the wires in place.
